As the night curfew for Colombo was taken off a week back, I went to Yala with my wife and daughter on a week day in the first week of July. It was a day trip and as the highway is functional up to Mattala, we started fromm Kottawa at 3 in the morning and by 5 we were in Hambantota. By mistake we didn't exit from there and went to Mattala and then found our way to Yala and entered the jungle at 6 . The good thing was that I was able to buy the entrance ticket online which helped us avoid going to the office. It was an interesting day and by 10 pm we were back at home.
Our driver Duleetha saw this one while passing by at 6.15 near Jamburagla turn off .
After a while it came down and started drinking from a water puddle just in front of our jeep at the edge of the road.
.....Sat down and attended to some routine stuff.
Then started flexing a little..
Came out on to the road....
moved away around 10.15
A wild Boar digging for food
A Peacock
This was a welcome and a rare site these days
This Serpent Eagle flew on to this tree with a snake
A grey mongoose
This Croc was sunbathing and slowly got in to the water
A button rail ...
These Elephants were in the water for some time and came out
Time to re-treat I guess
