CHECKING OUT A RARE MIGRANT - EUROPEAN ROLLER

I got an opportunity to visit Yala in the 4th week of October with 3 fellow photographers / birders to confront a rare migrant namely European roller.

We were lucky to see it in a very relaxed state moving in the same area . Although it was to be a full day safari and all were much keener to see bird activity rather than going after Leopards, we left the park after the lunch break and headed towards Bundla covering the water bodies around the park catching good action.

European Roller: Seems to be settled in a particular area and not disturbed by people. easy to locate. Looks like a first winter migrant due to its dull colours.
