FIRST WILPATTU TRIP IN 2021...

I went to Wilpattu for the first time in 2021 and almost after 6 months with my wife and a very good friend of hers  in the last week of February for a full day safari. Although we didn't come across the famous cubs of Cleopatra as anticipated eagerly, we managed to see 2 leopards and quite a few birds on that trip.

May be because of Poya was round the corner there had been a decline in the activity of Leopards in the park but we managed to see 2 leopards.

This is the Nelum vila big boy. When we saw  he was nicely laying down behind a big tree quite close to the main road though we could not see the full body. However he gave some kind of a show as we stayed there for more than 2 hours in anticipation that he would come to the open which he didn't do. Also we were saddened by  the fact that he was limping badly when he got up and moved inside later on and only hope that its nothing serious.
