This female purple rumped Sunbird along with it's partner built this attractive and fascinating nest in the court yard of a house in Thalawathugoda.It's now probably nestling and helping to incubate the eggs and if I am lucky may be I can be part of the family activity when the eggs hatch and the chicks come out.
By the time I got the message the eggs had been hatched and the chicks were up and about.Unfortunately minutes before I got there the male chick while trying to fly had fallen to the pond below and had not survived.The female chick had gone inside the house and I managed to catch it slowly and put it inside the nest.Hopefully it will survive to tell the story to the next generation.
