LEOPARDS IN ACTION

Although I started my wildlife journeys in 1992 by going to Wasgamuwa national park when my daughter was only 10 months old, surprisingly I didn't get a chance to see a leopard  and photograph till 2010 .
 Since September 2010, I have been to Yala National park and Wilpatthu National park at least 40 times  altogether  up to June 2024 and had the. opportunity of photographing these beauties in different postures.

THALANGAMA WETLAND

I started my birding activity here a little over three years back.This place though has shown a reduction in fauna activity is a super place for birders specially if you are  new to birding or a foreign national.It was recorded that over 60 species of birds could be found here in a day if you are lucky. In November 2011 on a Saturday, I was able capture around 30 species of birds in one hour.

Priceless Frogmouths

FASINATING NATURE -PART 2...

This female Purple rumped Sunbird had started building a nest hanging on to a dry leaf of a palm tree in my garden which I saw only around 8 a.m yesterday( 10/11/11). By 12.30 p.m it had progressed well and I shot these frames below ,but unfortunately the nest gave way and fell .On its next flight it found that the nest was not there and called the mate as well and hovered above .When I got the chance I quickly got the nest and tied the top with a twine thread and hung on the same leaf putting the thread through a strong leaf as well. But they never came.
